Selah is a word used in the Bible, chiefly in the Psalms. While selah is a word of uncertain meaning, some have interpreted it to mean “pause, and think of that.”
Pause? Even with my good intentions to study God’s word daily, how often do I truly pause to deeply ponder its truths? How often do I stop to “smell the roses” in my life instead of focusing on the thorns? How often do I sincerely enjoy what God gives to me moment by moment? Our lives can be extremely fast-paced, demanding, and tiring. God recognizes the need for us to refresh our souls and knows that such renewal can only be achieved if we slow down, take a deep breath, and rest in God’s presence. That means setting aside all our distractions and turning our hearts and minds toward God. Just as sleep is necessary for our physical health, pausing to reflect on God’s goodness is required for our spiritual well being. Take time for yourself today. www.LiveBelieveInspire.com

You wake up and what is first thought - is it God, is it thank you, is of the one you love, is of worry or finances, maybe your first thought is a curse at the day, maybe it's peace and gratitude, try to imagine what your day would like if you woke up to the glory of God, how different your mindset would be if only you offered to be of service to others, if you asked to do what was needed of you rather than what was wanted by you, imagine how much light would fill you up if you only casted your worries aside and replaced every ounce of them with Faith, your life - your choices, the clearer your mind and heart, the clearer your guidance is; imagine if. ~Will "Story" Rivera What is faith, faith is having absolute confidence - anytime we demonstrate faith, we’re relying on something. When you sit in a chair, you’re relying on the chair to hold you up - you never question its integrity or ability to keep you from falling on the floor. When you pour a liquid into a cup I bet you don’t think twice about whether or not it will leak, or when you walk up stairs you never for once think you will fall through. Faith in God means we rely on him and depend on his reliability without hesitation, with full confidence. We give our absolute faith so freely to other things of less importance yet we hesitate when it comes to believing in ourselves, we hesitate and panic at the first sign of tribulations. Having faith means realizing that God has a greater plan and if we just allow this plan to unfold without our manipulation and constant battle to control, we will experience the greatness of the path that lies before us.
Genuine faith is relying on God's direction and on who he is. God is reliable. He knows what you need, and he wants to meet those needs. Unfortunately, we think we know better. We think we have a better plan. We want to use our logic and get to the answer in a way that makes us look good – and doesn’t require risk. But God wants us to grow, so he takes us a different way. Often times the struggle seems impossible, the task may look terrifying, the situation heartbreaking, but with faith we know deep down that no matter what the experience – we are blessed and favored and there is no situation that we cannot triumph through. The more we learn to nurture our faith the more we begin to allow God to do his good work for us, we let go of worry and replace that energy with trust. This gives us more time to focus on the things that really matter because we know deep in our hearts that our father is always taking care of us. Go with God and be awesome. ~Will “Story” Rivera |
