Are You a Pro Active Creator or A Reactive Creator? What is the most important factor in determining the outcome of your life?
Is it your family background or parental influence that is shaping your life, molding your conduct and ultimately determining who you are turning out to be? Or is it your educational and academic experiences that are determining this result? Is it how “street smart” you are that is defining your success in life? Could it be the genes you were born with or your physical characteristics? Maybe it’s simply a matter of luck that is framing the person you are becoming and what you are accomplishing with your life. Certainly, many of these factors have had an influence on your life. Without question, they can be important as far as your life’s ultimate destination is concerned. However, there is one thing that is playing the primary role in determining the outcome of your life. What is it? In spite of the importance of this question, many of us don’t give much serious thought to the answer. We just go with the flow and let our lives work out in their own way. Granted, it’s much easier to just let life happen and not be personally responsible for the actual results. However, life doesn’t just happen. Instead, our lives are defined by the choices we make. Some of these choices are ours, and some choices are made by other people, and we just accept those decisions and follow along. Stop and think about it… You, or someone around you, chooses what the next thought, the next comment or activity will be. Whether you elect to let someone make these choices for you – or you make the choices yourself – you develop as an individual according to the choices that guide or influence your life. Other Factors Become Less Important Over Time But, you say…don’t our general circumstances have a lot to do with it? Granted, we came into this world with pre-existing conditions: where we were born, the color of our skin, our basic physical characteristics and the guidance we received in early childhood. These are all factors that helped to form us in some way. Beyond our very early years, it is our personal choices that determine how we treat other people, the level of education we attain, who we marry, what we do in our career and what we ultimately achieve with our lives. It is so important to understand that we are all making choices all the time, even when we chose not to choose we have still made a choice. It is our choices that determine our experiences. The choices we are making today will show up in our experiences in the future. Unless we are willing to take full responsibility for ourselves and the choices we make, we have no control over our lives. We have been given all the power to create our experiences through our choices, but if we believe that outside forces are responsible for our choices we give away all the power we have. Sometimes making the right choice or even knowing how to choose is very difficult, but it is vitally important to understand that you are in charge of your own life if you chose to think for yourself. If you chose not to take charge, you will experience the consequences of that choice, and simply be blown about by life like a leaf in the wind. We can choose to to be a pro active creator or a reactive creator. Either way the choice is always ours. You are not your weight, your height, your eyes or your thighs. You are not the color of your hair or the clothes you choose to wear. You are not the relationships you have had or the failures in the past - you are more than what you see and more than what you believe.
You are stardust and creation at it's finest with a dash of unexplained surprises and miracles wrapped up in the form of absolutely breathtaking. You are more than a reflection, more than comparison, more than all the criticism you ever chose to believe. The most exquisite package, wrapped in perfection and mystery. You are a universal explosion of stars, all the planets, the sun, the moon, the mountains, the land and the sea plus all that is beyond that. Mirrors are just glass and YOU are so much more than that.~Will "Story" Rivera Stop comparing yourself.
Comparison is a killer to self-love. And we aren’t usually very nice when it comes to comparisons, right? Instead, we take our greatest flaws and compare them to someone else’s greatest success. We are constantly comparing everything there is about us to some one else when in reality we are as unique and genuine as a snowflake. Learn to write your own story. Realize that you can’t compare your life to someone else’s because no matter how well you know them, you never know how they feel or how they perceive their life. Instead, spend your time and energy to nourish and build your path. I love listening to this speech it always motivates me everyday to keep a clear path and always put "God" first. " Put God first. Put God first in everything you do. Everything that you think you see in me. Everything that I’ve accomplished, everything that you think I have – and I have a few things. Everything that I have is by the grace of God. Understand that. It’s a gift. Forty years ago, March 27th, 1975 – it was forty years ago just this past March, I was flunking out of college I had a 1.7 grade point average, I hope none of you can relate. I had a 1.7 grade point average, I was sitting in my mother’s beauty shop. They still call the beauty shop now, what they call it? Yeah, and I was sitting in a beauty parlor. I was sitting in my mother’s beauty parlor. And I’m looking in the mirror and I see behind me this woman under the dryer and every time she looked up – she every time I looked up she was looking at me. She was looking me in the eye, I don’t know who she was and I said you know, she said somebody give me a pen, give me a pencil I have a prophecy. March 27th, 1975, she said boy you are going to travel the world and speak to millions of people. Now mind you I flunked out of college I’m thinking about joining the army I didn’t know what I was going to go and she is telling me I’m going to travel the world and speak to millions of people. Well I have, traveled the world. And I have spoke to millions of people, but that’s not the most important thing, success that I had the most important thing is that what she taught me, what she told me that day has stayed with me since. I’ve been protected, I’ve been directed, I’ve been corrected, I’ve kept god in my life and it’s kept me humble, I didn’t always stick with him but he always stuck with me. So stick with him, in everything you do, if you think you want to do, what you think I’ve done, then do what I’ve done. And stick with god. Number two: fail big, that’s right. Fail big, today is the begining of the rest of your life and you can be just – be very frightening. And it’s a new world out there, it’s a mean world out there. You only live once, so do what you feel passionate about, passionate about. Take chances professionally, don’t be afraid to fail, there is an old IQ test [that] was nine dots and you had to draw five lines with the pencil within the nine dots without lifting the pencil. The only way to do it was to go outside the box. So don’t be afraid to go outside the box. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box. Don’t be afraid to fail big, to dream big, but remember, dreams without goals, are just dreams. And they ultimately fuel disappointment. So have dreams, but have goals, life goals, yearly goals, monthly goals, daily goals. I try to give myself a goal every day, sometimes just to not curse somebody out. Simple goals but have goals and understand that to achieve these goals you must apply discipline and consistency, in order to achieve your goals you must apply discipline which you’ve already done, and consistency every day not just one Tuesday and just a two days, you have to work at it. Every day you have to plan, every day you heard the saying, we don’t plan to fail, we fail to plan – hard work works, working really hard is what successful people do. And in this text tweet, twerk world that you’ve grown up in remember just because you’re doing a lot more doesn’t mean you’re getting a lot more done. Remember that — just because you’re doing a lot more, doesn’t mean you’re getting a lot more done, don’t confuse movement with progress, my mother told me she said ‘yeah, because you can run and play all the time and never get anywhere.’ So continue to strive, continue to have goals, continue to progress. Number three: you’ll never see a U-Haul behind a hearse: I’ll say it again, you’ll never see a U-Haul behind a hearse. I don’t care how much money you make, you can’t take it with you. The Egyptians tried it, they got robbed. That’s all they got. You can’t take it with you, with you, and is that how much you have – it’s what you do, with what you have, we all have different talents, some of you’ll be doctors, some lawyers, some scientists, some educator, some nurses, some teachers. Yeah, okay. Some preachers, the most selfish thing you can do in this world is help someone else why is this selfish, because the gratification, goodness that comes to you, the good feeling, the good feeling that I get from helping others, nothing’s better than that. Well one of two things but, nothing’s better than that, not – not jewelry, not big house I have not big cars, but is the joy that’s where the joy is and helping others that’s where the success is in helping others. Finally, I pray that you put your slippers way under the bed tonight, so that when you wake up in the morning you have to get on your knees to reach them. [Applause] And while you’re down there, say thank you for grace, thank you for mercy, thank you for understanding, thank you for wisdom, thank you for parents, thank you for love, thank you for kindness, thank you for humility, thank you for peace, thank you for prosperity. Say thank you in advance for what’s already yours. So that’s how I live my life, that’s why – [where I am today]. Say thank you in advance for what is already yours. True desire in the heart for anything good is God’s proof to you sent beforehand to indicate that it’s yours already. I’ll say it again. True desire in the heart, that itch that you have whatever it is you want to do, that thing that you want to do to help others and to grow and to make money that desire that itch, that’s God’s proof to you, sent beforehand, already to indicate that it’s yours. And anything you want good you can have, so claim it, work hard to get it. When you get it, reach back, pull someone else up, each one teach one. Don’t just aspire to make a living. Aspire to make a difference. Thank you." She is fire, she purifies and burns, she is the reflection of everything you have in your soul. See you may love her or hate her but that depends on whats within you. Like water of the ocean she engulfs you, she is unpredictable, waves crash and tides turn, she has the power of words, they may drown you or wash you away. Like a storm she leaves you devastated, beautifully stranded, your never the same. You have to respect something like that, almost as you would mother nature or that truthful friend who is completely transparent. You just don't find souls like that, completely uncommon. When she speaks she breathes life into you, inspiration and truth, she has this burning desire to ignite a movement of awareness, mindfulness, peace, intentional actions, a generation of souls that will unite through differences, set fire to the old ways. Change is coming. Will you step into the flames? ~Will "Story" Rivera
