Stopped at the bakery for a cafe con leche and Avena, feeling grateful that I can even do that, the idea that when I'm thirsty or hungry I always have my needs met without fear or worry of where my next meal is coming. There was a woman in front and she asked me if I could get her an empanada, which I gladly did, the point is I never take more than my share, if I have it you have it, when I win we all win, every penny extra I give away to someone who needs it, I may not be left with much, I may not always have everything but honestly I don't need it all. We easily allow our egos to say well I work hard for this or that, it's a slippery slope indeed when we start to think in terms of unequal entitlement, we completely miss the point that all resources for survival are naturally free, the water you drink to the fruit on the trees, even animals, the rivers, the beaches, the mountains, all natural resources that we "pay someone for" - it is us who support the systems that serve only to benefit themselves, we bought into to this illusion and continue to support it through every purchase we make, there is no reason in this world why anyone should be without their basic needs met. If you have extra share it, it's that simple. ~Will "Story" Rivera
I was born into captivity, like the animals at a pet store, or a zoo, shackled and enslaved by titles and roles, expectations and rules - these laws only serve to suffocate, the free spirit is a danger among those who wish to control and play it safe, we can make a million excuses as to why it's truly best this way or how this captivity has actually "saved us" somehow - we have been herded and kept in fear and we are the fools to ever believe that this is ok, that those born into a prison of the soul do not know better or do not long for more, do you really believe a bird in a cage will not leave given the chance to live freely - to reach outward into the world and explore what we are truly capable of when we are not bound by own shackles - to love is to appreciate not to possess - nothing ever belongs to us, it's tragic really, we live in a prison of our own fears - see I was born into captivity but I will die a free soul. ~Will "Story" Rivera
Why does gratitude make such a big difference in our lives. My life has not always been rainbows and butterflies, I have had many times when we went without, many times when I felt like I "deserved" more, times when I cursed my job or situation to hell, times when I wish things were different, one of the greatest resources I ever blessed myself with was gratitude itself.. and lots of it. I learned to be thankful every moment of every day, for every possible thing big and little. My days are filled with gratitude all the time, to people, friends, loved ones, I am so so grateful all the time, I find it humbles me and helps me to remember just how lucky I truly am, just how blessed I have it. The last couple of months have been crazy to say the least but amidst my own storms i made conscious effort never forget my blessings and those who have aided on the journey, I don't ever let even the littlest things go by with out me paying homage to them and saying thank you in my thoughts, in my heart and in my prayers. Its so important to me, even during those times when my attention strays into the territory of what I feel is so called "lacking" - I immediately slap myself back into the moment and remind myself there are individuals out there who are dealing with a great deal more of challenging situations and I truly have no right to complain about my little issues no matter how big they seem to my world.
Anything we are going through can be eased and transformed with a dose of genuine gratitude. Just wanted to share this thought in hopes to motivate anyone out there to get back into the habit (yes its a lifestyle change to practice gratitude daily) of showing gratitude instead of complaining, I promise it will change your life for the more positive, you will feel more peace regardless of what is occurring externally, you will cultivate an inner love and happiness unlike anything you have ever experienced, I cannot promise you receive more due to your change of thought process but I can tell you that no matter how little or a lot you have you will learn to make the most of it in such a way that you will no longer desire change or feel a need to control what's happening. ~Will "Story" Rivera When we recognize the light of your own being, we liberate ourselves and our own spirits from self defeating beliefs, we take back our power to consciously create and take responsibility for our lives and all that is in it, we are neither victims nor survivors, we are not struggling or getting by, we choose not to suffer, we make every experience into an opportunity to seize, for we are all masters just waiting to be unleashed, the possibilities of what we are capable of and what we can accomplish are limitless; there can be no darkness where there is light. ~Will "Story" Rivera
Is our life and our dreams worth us seeking, are we willing to go beyond the limitations of our own fears in order to create the reality we have always known existed, we have seen it in small glimpses, tasted a sip of it, now is the time to align our thoughts, emotions and actions so that we manifest exactly what we wish to see for not only ourselves but for everyone; in service to each other is the new world consciousness, there is no such thing as impossible. ~Will "Story" Rivera Show our kids how to keep their minds open not closed up, we cannot keep teaching our kids to be afraid of our life’s failures and setbacks, just because we were not brave enough to grow from the experience, because we allowed bitterness to settle in, because are scared of the heart ache, because we afraid of everything and anything, the future generations deserve better, they must learn how to express themselves freely, to follow their dreams, to face fears, to be encouraged, get back up when they fall, be confident in their uniqueness in this world, an open mind and a loving heart is the richest gift anyone of us can give to our kids. |
