Everyday for the next year I will be posting a new Inspirational Rule to consider living by. I hope you enjoy.
Rule #36 11/20/15 Take just what you need and give the rest freely without fear and without any expectations. We tend to build bigger and need more and more, the more we are blessed and we soon forget about all the other souls in this world we could share with. We really do not need all these "things" and "attachments" we are constantly investing in. When God blesses you, it is so that you share with those who could use that blessing just as much as you did. Share often. ~Will "Story" Rivera Everyday for the next year I will be posting a new Inspirational Rule to consider living by. I hope you enjoy. Rule #35 11/19/15 Be Guided By Faith Not Fear Fearlessness is our natural state of being. When a child is born they do not fear; it is a learned trait, a conditioned life state brought to us after repeated conditioning and forced habits. There is a huge difference between fear and danger. Danger is real while fear is the illusion. Too often we have used fear to manipulate our children for the sake of them being “safe”, to manipulate others into changing into who we wish for them to be, to manipulate in general just to get our way. Fear drives us to be irrational, and make choices that do not serve our highest good.
Ridding ourselves of the fear is a process, one that requires courage through each endeavor, courage that comes from cultivating the habit of refusing to let fear dictate one's actions, courage which is renewed repeatedly in the face of harsh, unremitting pressure. Stay true to yourself and stay true to your passion. Fear can be overcome when you repeatedly refuse to allow it to dictate any portion of your life. ~Will “Story” Rivera Everyday for the next year I will be posting a new Inspirational Rule to consider living by. I believe in a love that unconditional. I believe that we have been conditioned to see love as something that we need to capitalize on. That is comes with guarantees and expectations. Genuine unconditional love allows you to love yourself first, so that you have the strength of heart and mind to give that same selfless acceptance to another person. Unconditional love is not a loan needing to be repaid, a string-less gift of the heart - a gesture where only you benefit directly.
It is not unconditional love when other people like us for doing what they want or because we give them what they demand of us. Under those conditions we’re just “paying” for love in a way (or literally in some cases) with what we do to get that attention. We can be certain that we’re receiving unconditional love only when we make foolish mistakes, when we fail to do what other people want, and even when we get in their way, but they don’t feel disappointed or irritated with us. When we make a seemingly poor choice about our lives, take a wrong turn, undo or sabotage our own happiness. It is unconditional love that keeps them right there, not judging or punishing but loving without conditions. It’s that love alone that has the power to heal all wounds, bind people together, and creates relationships quite beyond our present capacity to imagine. It is not about who is worthy or what we have done for another – it’s about giving something of ourselves without question or looking back to see if someone is grateful or expecting a thank you in any way. Guilt & Fear have no place in the same sentence or room with love. Conditioning your will only bring more harm to your own life, if you truly love – let it be unconditional. Give the gift of yourself with no question and no expectations. ~Will "Story" Rivera Everyday for the next year I will be posting a new Inspirational Rule to consider living by. I hope you enjoy. Rule #33 11/17/15 Don't Waste Time With Regret. Events happen all the time, we are habitual creatures and tend to label everything that occurs: good, bad, sad, happy etc. Sometimes our emotions can be so powerfully overwhelming we have difficulty moving on. Get the pain and the disappointment out of the way, allow yourself suitable time for mourning but do not make that state of emotions your permanent living residence.
When your ready, start to think about what went wrong, what you did wrong, turn that into a lesson, and move on. Do it better. Make the next one great. Never repeat the same lessons. Accept the part that you have played and forgive yourself. Don’t throw away precious time and energy dwelling on things you can’t fix. You can’t turn back time, neither can you extend time in your life. We only have 24 hours in a day. The number of years in your life is not going to increase. It will only decrease if you waste it on a negative energy by being pessimistic, stressed, depressed, and hard on yourself or others. Move forward. The sooner you can get back up and be optimistic again, the more you can make clear and motivating decisions and be able to enjoy the present moment. ~Will "Story" Rivera Everyday for the next year I will be posting a new Inspirational Rule to consider living by. This is why the “now” is so precious to your life and wellbeing. No matter what you are going through - what you think, feel, and do in this very moment is more precious than any worry, doubt or fear that the future could hold. Choose your thoughts and emotions wisely, enjoy this gift of life. If you remove the comparison you will come to find that you can be deeply satisfied and happy with your situation, no matter how desperate your ego may want you to feel. Your darkest season can and will come to an end. Things might look bleak at first, but they can improve. With night and day, God has given us a picture of hope, as the sun always rises. It is always the darkest before the dawn. ~Will “Story” Rivera
I came to meet you today. It was at the place we used to always meet at for the few moments that we stole from time, the only moments where you and I could be ourselves and be lost in each other’s presence. Quiet chatter and hopeful plans for a future we both knew was a dream. Or maybe it was only I who dreamed it. None the less I came to see you. It was one of those meetings where I hoped things could be like they used to be and I sat there visualizing the impossibility of you knowing I was there, special connection, but still my hopes got the best of my heart and I waited with eager eyes and fearful doubt simultaneously. I prayed for a miracle to see you, even just for a moment. I just needed to know you were OK, it didn't even matter that I was broken in a thousand ways and it seems my breathing has become difficult and there is this unbearable weight upon my soul now that you are no longer “here”, but honestly I swear, my only concern was to make sure your life was better and that there was hope for you to be successful even after all that transpired. I just needed to know you were ok. I am not even sure what I was thinking by posting these letters but I guess I just needed to say it out loud since I could not say it to you and maybe just maybe someday you will read this and know I waited for you today. ~Will “Story” Rivera
