Everyday for the next year I will be posting a new Inspirational Rule to consider living by. I hope you enjoy.
Rule #30 11/14/15
Expectations lead to disappointments but not all disappointments have to be heart breaking.
True peace resides when we learn to let go of all expectations. A life living truly in the moment is the goal for our inner journey. But do not be disheartened if this has yet to be something you have been able to master. Like most people, expectations are a habit we are taught and developed to incorporate in almost all aspects of our lives. So when disappointment due to expectation strikes, just know that it can and will build character and patience, when allowed to do so. These types of lessons can teach you to win and lose with grace of God and not with the grief of a child. Romans 5:3-4 says it like this: "We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us—they help us learn to endure. And endurance develops strength of character ".
So if you can find it in your heart to let go of the expectations you place on others and circumstances you will find that the majority of the suffering you experience, if not all of it, is gone. You will come to find that your relationships on every level will last longer, you will have less arguments and less anger. But if you do find that you did slip and expect a little too much a little too often; remember to accept those disappointments with courage, faith and love. ~Will "Story" Rivera
